Actually, the John Hopkins Insider that is at www.intelihealth.com had an
article 2/17/99 that said that a study has just been concluded that shows that
low weight at birth increases a person's chances of getting Type 2 D as an
adult.  The study was done at a hospital in Boston and showed that 5 pound
babies had an 83% higher risk of getting Type 2 D than babies born between 7
and 8.5 pounds.  If this info is true, it seems as though a normal birth
weight could go a long way in preventing diabetes(the type 2 variety).  ellen
