Re: [IP] Re: Insurances
We are retired Navy and on the government insurance TRICARE in the NW
region. They did not even hesitate replacing Josh's H-Tron+ pump at THREE years
for his new Cozmo. The MD who does the reviews responded to my letter of
inquiry stating he knows enough about pumps to realize that Josh could benefit
from the new bells and whistles of the newer pumps than what the basic unit of
the H-Tron+ had. Josh was just starting puberty at that time (been on the
Cozmore now for 3.2 years) It IS possible to write your own letter of inquiry
to your insurance company and explain special circumstances. Shoot, we
already had the new pump being sent BEFORE our endo could send off the Letter
of
Medical Necessity.
The thing to remember is that there is a medical review process with a REAL
doctor at each insurance company. You could try to appeal to that person's
sense of better judgement. It sure worked for us...and we are dealing with
government bureaucracy....!!!!
