Lawyers for fast-food companies already are working to defend against
another whopper of a lawsuit. In July, an overweight New York man filed a
class action suit against McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's and KFC claiming
their greasy, salty, sugary food caused him to reach 270 pounds. The
plaintiff, who has had two heart attacks and is diabetic, claims the
restaurants didn't properly disclose the ingredients of their food and the
risks of eating too much.

Juries have imposed huge verdicts against tobacco companies. Might fast-food
lawsuits follow suit? Will chili cheese fries bear warning labels? The proof
will be in the pudding -- which we hope is low-fat.
