  Now that you are on the pump you need to do fasting BGs to check your basal 
rates.  If you are fasting and your BGs continue to go up then your basal 
rates are not enough and need to be raised.  It is expected for them to go 
down but not more than 30 points, according to Pumping Insulin book.  So, 
yes, this is a common thing that occurs, especially at the very beginning 
when everything is very new!
