RE: [IP] duration of pizza increases

Actually I believe Shane is her husband? Or at least I think he is in his
20/30s?
Knowing how immature my hubbie can be, the growth hormone might be an issue?
:)

I also have a strange reaction from pizza. I eat it for breakfast, lunch,
dinner, etc and it always reacts the same. My blood sugars are beautiful
for 5 hours after and then skyrocket. A dose of insulin seems to take care
of it also. I believe it is the protein and fat. I have tried to take
extra insulin at eating time and I go low first and then high later. I
tried a dual wave and put most of it into the first dose and then spread the
rest over 4 hours. Same results. I tried taking all first and then spread
extra out over 6 hours...ran on the lower side all day until the expected
spike. I have realized that the best thing to do is bolus for the pizza and
plan on taking approx. 3 units 5 hours later. I tried the increased temp
basal and found the results no different then if I had done a square wave.

So my shoulders shrug in thought of an answer for you.
If you and Shane figure it out, let me know.

laura,

what time is it then? is he eating at 6 pm and then by midnight he is in
the 180-200 range? if so...perhaps this is the growth hormone acting up.

if he eats pizza at 12 noon, and at 6 pm he is high...then maybe his basals
from 4/5 pm are a bit low.

just a thought or two.
