Rufus the Diabetes Bear (was)Re: [IP] one year anniversary

   For anyone, young or old, this is a worthwhile purchase, & if you obtain
it from Fifty-50 products, a portion of their proceeds also goes to JDF.
Check out the details & the photo of Rufus at <A
HREF="http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/d_06_c20.htm">children with
DIABETES - Rufus, the Bear with Diabetes</A>.
   One of JDF's newest "grass roots" projects by the way is the "Bag of Hope"
designed by a mother in Utah ( but not yet available in every chapter) which
includes a canvas tote bag, a Rufus bear & its accompanying story book, a
free meter, coupons, manuals and other items designed to help ease that awful
transition from hearing "your child has diabetes" to actually living with
that news 24/7 on your own. Ideally, when the program is operating smoothly,
the JDF office will be notified of a newly diagnosed child and an experienced
volunteer family and child will visit the newly-diagnosed family, bringing
along the "Bag of Hope"!
