I wasn't saying that eating too much sugar causes type 1 diabetes (it
doesn't cause type 2, either). I certainly know better than that. I was
merely speculating that over-indulging in carbs - for holidays or eating
birthday cake or the like - could cause somebody *who already has diabetes
but does not know it yet* to feel rotten enough to go to the doc, where
he/she is diagnosed with diabetes. Or, in the case of a child, manifesting
the symptoms to the point where it is obvious that a doctor's visit is
necessary. There is no denying that ingesting carbs can make your BGs rise
if you have DM.
