>From the Editor

Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness among working-age
people in developed countries. In Medscape CME conference coverage from the
recent ADA meeting (posted just last week), Lloyd Paul Aiello, MD, PhD, of
the Joslin Clinic, provides an overview of diabetic retinopathy and
discusses the new research on the topic presented at the ADA meeting. This
report is a strong example of what we try to do with Medscape conference
coverage: the latest research discussed in clincal context by leading
experts in the field.
