Michael, we did go through a situation sort of like that several years ago.
Then the insulin of choice for the pump was Novo Velosoline (spelling?). It
was regular buffered to not clog the infusion set.
It was in short supply and was rationed. You (as I remember it) got an id
number, I think I had to fax them my prescription. When you needed a  bottle
you would call an 800 number and give them your id number,  they would then
send the bottle to your druggist.
You had to be very careful about your inventory because it took a day or so
for the insulin to arrive. I only had a problem once, when the drugstore
sold my insulin to someone else.
Does anyone else remember this??-James
