Re: [IP] Re: Flu shot

It is important to distinguish the flu from stomach distress.

The flu is a respiratory illness, characterized by fever, muscle aches,
headaches, and cold-like symptoms.

Stomach distress can be mild food-poisoning (or even severe food
poisoning!), and results in nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Most people
refer to it as 'stomach flu" but it is NOT flu and not in any way
connected with what you get immunized against. Nevertheless, it can
cause problems with BGs and ketosis.

Of course, Type 1 diabetics with the flu (not food poisoning) can ALSO
go into ketosis, which can result in vomiting and nausea, dehydration,
and DKA. Confusing, eh?

So it's really important to check for ketones when you're sick -- and to
do everything you can to avoid illnesses like the flu! Get them flu
