My experience is that you need to eat and bolus at least four hours before 
starting a fasting basal test.  So, since you'd like to fast from 12 noon to 
5 pm, eat your breakfast by 8 am, then test at 12, 2, 4 and 6 pm to see if 
you remain steady with the basal rates tha are programmed for you now.  It 
might even be a bit helpful to eat breakfast at 6 am and begin testing at 10 
am, then every two hours.  Hope that helps!
