You really need to start your pump therapy with the support of a diabetes
specialist who has "certified" in pump therapy.  I am a very experienced
person with diabetes, 31 years worth, and still needed that safety net for
the first few weeks (including home phone numbers).  

Who is going to establish basal rates, carbo ratio's? Most regular
physicians aren't that experienced here.  Plus raging horomones of a
teenager would make this a bit more complex.

Regarding skin preps, look at this web page:
http://www.minimed.com/files/tapetip.htm  I use some other stuff that is
also an inhaler for childrens colds, forgot the name of it something like
benzoin.   Even stays on in a hot tub and  sauna.
