 I read this thinking that the child was just not being given insulin or food at
bedtime, not that insulin was being withheld all the time. Sounds like maybe the
child might have had problems with lows during the night and the father's
solution is to just not give any long acting at night.

 I do think this should be looked into, and sooner rather than later, but I
don't know if I'd go too crazy until the whole story is known. Perhaps some
education classes are needed.
