RE: [IP] Lab Tests

""Were you told to fast before having blood drawn for cholesterol? Or are you
having other tests done? AFAIK, the cholesterol test is not a fasting test.
Jim Handsfield""

Rarely do I disagree with Jim but have to here -
the following is from WEBMD:
"Total and HDL cholesterol levels can be measured from a blood sample any time
of day, without fasting. However, to accurately measure the total cholesterol
and triglycerides, and to calculate the LDL cholesterol level, a fasting blood
sample is needed. This test is also called a lipoprotein analysis."

While a total can be done without fasting - it's not really a very useful
number - especially for us who have to watch out so very carefully.
