[IP] meeting a mental health professional

From: email @ redacted
Subject: Re: [IP] Re: Counseling for those with diabetes (spot read this)

Is there a particular type of councelor/therapist/doctor that is better for
someone with dm to get counseling from? There are mental health,
health, psychiartrists, pshychologists, psychoanalysts... it's so confusing!

- ----------------------------------------------------------
there is no magic formula for selecting a doc. I would start with a
psychologist and if your needs are not met and the psychologist feels
medication is necessary, see a psychiatrist. psychoanalysis is a long and
expensive treatment and most patients will not have the stick to itiveness
to see it thru.in addtion it is expensive and after it is over you will know
yourself well but it won't reduce stress any better. All of these treatments
are somewhat painful and you will have 1 to 5 tissue sessions. even more.
your arrival at home can have your eyes red rimmed and runny. the most
important thing is that you connect with your therapist. you should feel
able to tell him or her anything.
