The researches working on this protocol believe it will work for all.
Because there is still no way to "turn off" the bodies auto-immune response,
they think the treatment will have to be given again.  The body will
continue to destroy islet cells, but INGAP will stimulate the islet cells
faster than they are destroyed.  The analogy they used was a bucket with a
hole in it.  This treatment will be able 'to fill the bucket faster than the
water is leaking out.'  Since they are in phase 1 clinical study right now
and P&G has just formed an alliance with GMP, it seems to me that there must
be some encouraging results seen in the trial.  Maybe, that's just wishful
thinking.  Time will tell.
