Well, it's for SOME diabetics, regardless of type -- specifically those
who don't have much of a dawn phenomenon, or dusk phenomenon, or large
changes in basal needs. 

If we all needed a smooth, peakless insulin as a basal, then why do some
of us show such differences in basal rate depending on time of day?

I definitely NEED a peak between midnight and 6 AM -- glad the pump is
here to do it for me!
