Great question! Most people with type 1 diabetes have antibodies present.
Your doc can check islet cell antibodies & GAD autoantibodies. A c-peptide
level is also beneficial. With this information and a history and physical
the type can many times be determined but not always. As with everything
else in diabetes YMMV.
