[IP] EMTs

Kathy,
Only EMT-Paramedics and I'm not sure about EMT-Intermediates can render
drugs on site. That's just law. For the EMT-P and the EMT-I the
training is more extensive. So I guess even if we do have a big ole tag
on our forehead saying we are diabetic and we are not picked up by a
paramedic the tag will do no good until we reach the hospital.

I know , I know sugar is not a drug. But neither is insulin in my mind
(human bodies make insulin) But That's just the way it is

Subject: Re: [IP] whether EMTs should suspend a pump

do you mean in IL that you can not do a bs level and give dextrose via an
iv
that you start if needed?
i find that absurd, why respond to the call at all then? esp the distance

some people live they would definitely be dead before you reach the
hospital
