[IP] Re: alcohol

When my son was diagnosed at the age of 13, we were told alcohol was a no-no 
for diabetics.  As it was explained to us, the alcohol prevents the liver 
from producing glucagon--which is your safety net if you have an undetected 
low BG.  Without the liver's production of glucagon, a low blood sugar could 
be very dangerous, even deadly.  I have tried to encourage my son to stay 
away from all alcohol.
