Re: [IP] trying to get one for my son

My son just started on the pump last week, he is 15 and was diagnosed
7/23/97. Before he made the decision to start we attended a information
session that was sponsored by our pediatric endo. We go a clinic in a
childrens's hospital, in Hamilton, Ontario He had the reps out with their
pumps and many of the children that are on pumps. The children ranged in
ages starting at 2 and up. The parents spoke highly of pump therapy and were
very pleased with the control for the young children.
Our doctor had our son on MDI within a month of diagnosis and has been
advocating the pump for all kids as soon as possible.I have found that I am
surprised at how many obstacles are put in people's paths. We have had the
opposite experience. An excellent team with great support. They insist
that children get the best control to diminish long term problems.
