I don't think the point of the article was that "too much sugar" is the blame all. Rather that highly processed, unnatural foods - in this case, high fructose corn syrup- have negative effects

DLife had a nice show Sunday about Diabetes and Depression. Doing crosswords and puzzle type things are supposed to help. I do play Duplicate Bridge and most of the time I am able to count trump. I am also getting a little Deaf. So far I have avoided Depression

They don't teach the kids how to read a newspaper or use an encyclopedia. My daughters (She's a senior in HS now) told her to use the internet, however they did not teach hew to verify her sources. One teacher told me that newspapers are old fashion and that everything is on the internet

It took me from November until April to get Animas to take my pump back and check it out. The well constantly smelled of insulin. My sugars were all over the board. Let me back this up.

This is true, even when setting up your pump's basil rate...you need to manually check sugar for weeks to get it right and then it often takes adjustment over time but you can't do this if you allow the original basil to remain stagnant..

I disconnect when showering and place pump on top of my nightclothes on the vanity. That way I must reconnect to get to nightclothes without forgetting.. I bolus 50% of the basal rate to be missed during disconnect and the remaining 50% is bolused at reconnecting

I flew from Boston to Denver and back again this week. Boston was a nightmare. No option for the old type of scanner in either direction. Choices were body scanner or pat down. As much as I hate the pat-down and as much as I try to use other modes of transportation rather than fly, I had no choice but to fly this time

Carole, I believe you have a Medicare supplement plan. If so, your claim will first go to Medicare and then United will cover your co-pay. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan then your claim would go directly to United for payment. Medicare supplemental plans only cover what Medicare approves

the bags sold at camping stores might work well, if you are wanting to hang the pump from the showerhead one of those key holding strips with a hook on it might work, around the neck, and hook it to the clip (if you have one) of course it would get wet, but hang it in the shower to dry for the next use

This company isn't much into giving out "samples" at this time. Right now there is only one place the strips are available on line, and they are also available at Walgreens. But these are only available options if you can get your strips as part of your prescription plan and not part of your DME

I have a MM 522 and I shower with it when I have a bolus running and I need to go out & can't wait for it. I just hold it in my hand, and switch hands as needed. It's not a problem. MM says it's no problem to shower with it and I've never had any leakage or any other issue

I use CCS and I don't think they even have automatic refills. They call me at three months and ask me how many boxes of strips I have left and then deduct that number from the number on my prescription. I tell them not to send me alcohol swabs or lancets

I refuse to have automatic refills at the mail order house and local pharmacy. When I need an Item like syringes, I ask the doctor for Rx 1 box. Then I don't refill until the box ix empty. Same for Quick Sets. My Rx is for 10 sets a month. The mail order house sends 30 for 3 months

Comment 1 I do not reorder and they send me the same amount every 3 months. If I try to cut back on a reorder they tell me I need a new prescription and then I will always get the lower amount. However, I have a friend who gets his supplies from the va and they send him way too many strips so he sells them on ebay. He has asked them several times to stop sending them, along with insulin and syringes that he refuses to use...he is type 2 and has no control needlesstosay. He sells the "stuff" on ebay

They can be sued but no attorney will take it for the cost of a laptop..makes no financial sense, that's what class action suits are for Carole A

I have never flown but with the thousands of flyers every day, what are the chances that a TSA has never come across an insulin pump. Don't they read their own manuals? It should be mandatory

I print out the info from the website and carry it with me. I travel a lot for business and for the most part the TSA examiners have been more than accommodating

The TSA can not be sued. I was going to a conference to do a presentation and my laptop went thru xray. AT the end a TSA worker picked up the tub it was in and the laptop fell and was smashed. I was told that as a government agency they were not responsible

I think I am getting sick and tired of replacing pump clips. By the time I pay and ship I am out 20 bucks. I put my pump in my pocket now, plus I conceal carry and the last thing I want to do is draw down on some bad guy with an insulin pump lol
